Brighton, Pacha London

Last weekend I went to Brighton with Charlotte and Romana. I really like Brighton. It is just what I imagined a British 'seaside' town would be like. It has loads of cool little lanes of shops, great cafes, and the Pier! I can see how the novelty would wear off fast but it's a such a cute little place. As soon as we got off the train in Brighton we were talking about living here at some stage. It would be a great place to live for about 2 months to get away from the bustle of London. Definitely a summer-time place though, it's a little grim when the weather isn't nice.

We went on the Crazy Mouse ride (I got a nice big bruise on my arm from being thrown from one side of the seat to the other) - it was quite scary! We had fish n chips on the 'beach' :-) .. and regretted it for about 4 hours afterwards (I felt like i ate a bucket of grease). We meandered down all of the lanes and didn't buy anything - shock, horror! We went to the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery in the Pavilion Gardens which was interesting, and finished the evening with a bottle of vino and tapas at Ohso Social right on the beach next to the Pier.

Last week I went to see the History Boys in Soho Curzon - cute cinema but don't bother to go see the movie. I also tried Wagamama in Leicester Square - the food was the same but the Chain doesn't seem as upmarket here, it was much more family-type, with brighter lighting and a high turnover attitude, feed em quick and get em out quick.

On Wednesday it was Sarah's birthday dinner - Mexican on Clapham High Street - it was a nice place but the food was spicey!! I thought I could handle spicey food after Thailand but its been a while since I ate any Thai.

On Friday we all had a girl's night on the town - Pacha London. I was looking forward to this and a little bit nervous as it's supposed to be very glam. It's a nice club and I had a really fun night out although I'm not entirely sure what the fuss is about so I don't think I'll rush back there. Some photos coming soon.

Next weekend, a night at Turnmills could be on the cards for Halloween - Dimitri from Paris!! :-D

Markets, markets!

This will be a brief post because I'm writing it about 3 weeks after the fact, but Camden Markets and Spitalfields Markets were the highlights of this weekend. Have I mentioned that I love the markets over here??

I still haven't been to Portobello Road markets yet at Notting Hill. I'll put that on my to do list for a free weekend.

I bought mostly jewellery - I've been stocking up on the accessories over here... jewellery, bags, scarves, hats etc.

I told you this would be a short blog entry.

Camden, Clapham

Last weekend we went to Camden markets. I really like it, all sorts of clothes, nick nacks, jewellery, food and interesting stuff. Some great vintage shops. I went a bit nuts on jewellery and will go back and go nuts again on jewellery :-) The food is pretty cool, massive vats of curries, chocolate fondues, giant donuts (see picture to the right)!

I bought some fairy lights too! Although they are a bit too long and don't really even fit when i double them in my window. Oh well. You can tell I've been loads of exciting stuff when I'm talking about my fairy lights!!

I went out with my housemates (me and the boys) in Balham which is the next suburb south from where I live. We went to a comedy night upstairs at a big local pub which, after the comedy has finished they take away the tables and chairs and it turns into a dancefloor. It still amazes me how pumping the local bars, clubs and pubs get over here. It's great because even though I live about 20 mins from central london I can still have a cheap night out and be able to walk home!

I had a pretty quiet week until Friday night, got together with Romana and Charlotte for a few drinks (we were supposed to have a quiet night and go to the movies). The weather in Brighton was forecasted to be raining heavily so we thought we'd give it a miss this weekend and drink instead :-) It didn't turn out to be a huge night though. I went to the Ritzy movie theatre (picturehouse) in Brixton with Charlotte to see Volver which I really enjoyed! The Ritzy is a really quaint little theatre with decent prices. Charlotte made us a lovely curry and we had some drinks then headed out for a night in Clapham. We headed to Revolutions for a few flavoured shots and, you can't go to Revolutions without ending up at Infernos! (The Fern :-P)
